Cape Town remains one of the most visited cities in South Africa, in Africa for that matter. It is truly a special place, boasting of the world’s most iconic places, including a World Heritage site, Table Mountain. For someone travelling to Cape Town, dependent on their purpose, accommodation is almost always a requirement. On my recent travel to Cape Town, I stayed at More Quarters, situated in the suburb of Gardens, Cape Town. This charming Hotel will provide you a perfect place to venture out and explore the sights and sounds of Cape Town and surrounding areas. As part of the More Family Collection of properties within South Africa, they certainly know how to get it right. As the name suggests, there is real feel of a secluded quarter when staying there.
From the moment of arrival, you are immediately greeted with friendly staff willing to assist with your luggage and welcome you to More Quarters with a very hospitable feeling. Check in at the reception and through to the guest lounge is done smoothly. All the rooms are accessed from the street and there is a definite feeling of being a local when staying here.
With its perfect location, around the corner from coffee shops, boutique shops and restaurants so you are easily entrenched by the area and cosmopolitan way of life. Guests can easily walk down Kloof street that offers many shops. For the individuals that seeks nightlife, there is ample options, even with a restaurant and bar next door to More Quarters.
One of the best aspects of this property I believe is the complimentary shuttle within a 6km radius, which will allow you visit a majority of Cape Town without even worrying about transport and parking – which can be a difficult one around the city. Some of the major attractions in this radius are V&A Waterfront (also the departure point for Robben Island ferry), Table Mountain Aerial cableway, Sea Point and many spots in the City bowl.
More Quarters is also adjacent to its sister property, Cape Cadogan Hotel. Cape Cadogan is a smaller with a bit more space and slightly higher touches of luxury. While each of the different properties has their own facilities, the great thing is guest staying at each of the properties can opt of have breakfast either at More Quarters or Cape Cadogan, which is great for those staying 2 nights or longer. Both properties have Wi-fi available and included to stay connected. With only breakfast included you are encouraged to experience the different taste and flavours of cuisine of the city, which is a melting pot of culture, so you are guaranteed to have many options wherever you go.
The Hotel & Rooms at More Quarters and Cape Cadogan
More Quarters has 27 rooms in total, 23 Luxury One-bedroom apartments and four Two-Bedroom apartments. There is also the Redcliffe House, which is a four-bedroom exclusive use holiday house. It is great for family or a group of friends. Each of the rooms has been individually designed and are all different in layout and design. There are rooms on the ground and some on the first floor which are accessed by stairs as soon as you enter the One-bedroom apartment. You get a real feeling of your own luxury apartment. Even the SMEG appliances in the kitchenette created the feeling that there is no stone unturned. Along with wooden floors and doors with high quality white linen the bedroom feels very comfortable. The room is equipped with a King Size bed, Africology amenities, stocked minibar, DSTV-satellite TV and an aircon and even your own robe and slippers. Additionally, the Two-Bedroom rooms has much bigger space and has kids toys and amenities and even bath toys for the kids for the parents who has kids.
The Redcliffe House has 4 Bedrooms each with its own King size bed and en-suite bathroom. It has a dining room with 10-seater table and much larger kitchen. There is also a Lounge room with fireplace and satellite television. On top of that there is a Lounge deck outside with sofa set as well as your own swimming pool along with loungers to soak up the sun. The rooms are serviced every day and has Wi-fi throughout.
Cape Cadogan consists of two classic single rooms with Queen size beds. Five Classic rooms and Seven Luxury rooms. All the rooms have the same inclusions as More Quarters except for a Nespresso Coffee Machine and increase in size. Cape Cadogan also has one Superior Suite. It consists of a room with King size bed, shower as well as bathtub, a Lounge, gas fireplace, pool terrace and private plunge pool.
Both properties have a concierge desk to assist with any transfers or tours that you are interested in. A Spa service is also available in your room which can be booked at the front desk.
More Quarters and Cape Cadogan just works well and the location and ease of access around Cape Town from these two Hotels makes it perfect for any traveler. The complimentary shuttle is one of the best features for me of this property. A definite must when looking for accommodation in the Cape Town’s city bowl.
Who should go? Friends, Couples, Adults with and without kids. In my view it’s perfect for anyone.
When to go? Both properties cater for any season, the Hotels are suited to be comfortable in any weather. I would suggest getting there during summer and spring, but any other time would also be great if you prepare and plan well.
How to get there? More Quarters and Cape Cadogan is 20 minutes’ drive from Cape Town International airport and easily accessed by road. They also have safe and secure parking available.
Suggested length of stay? I always say stay as long as you can, but 3 nights is a minimum for me with the number of things there are to do and see in Cape Town.
Insider tip: Ask for one of the first-floor units, has a very nice verandah and good view.
