The Dulini River Lodge Experience
On Safari
Reputed to be one of the finest safari destinations, boasting some of the most bio-diverse populations of any reserve in Africa, the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve is home to Dulini. The 65 000ha Reserve shares a 50km unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park to its east, offering great diversity of wildlife encounters.
The Dulini Collection presents the signature safari experience in the company of expert guides and trackers, who aim to provide guests with a well-rounded and interpretative wildlife experience.
In Camp
It is upon your return from an enthralling safari, that the camp experience takes over. Every meal at Dulini is a celebratory African Affair, uniquely infused with timeless flavours, passionately prepared to be enjoyed either on the deck overlooking the river, around the boma fire beneath a blanket of stars, or in the comfort and privacy of your suite.
When guests aren't enjoying the theatre of meal time, there are options to take advantage of a selection of lavish treatments at the spa, a visit to the community focused gift galley, a fully equipped gym for those who wish for something more energetic, a drink in the lounge, or simply to just relax at your own private plunge pool admiring the views.
Night time at River Lodge is quiet and tranquil, romantically lit by the gentle flickering of oil lanterns and the welcoming glow of the boma fire. Fall asleep to the night sounds of the bush, and awake with a renewed sense of adventure!
Dulini River Lodge has it all!

River Lodge Accommodation
The lodge exudes exclusivity with only 6 luxury suites. Their privacy and exquisite decoration mirrors the feeling of a deeply personal wildlife adventure for the sophisticated traveller.
A four poster bed taking centre stage, spacious en-suite bathroom, with shower and bathtub overlooking the river, an outside shower nestled underneath century old indigenous trees, private deck and plunge pool, and a quite space for reflection are only but a few of the luxuries to be enjoyed in the suite.
The cascade of water infuses the air with the energy of the river, and the movement of game through the trails around the camp may be enjoyed beneath a leafy Jackalberry, from the comfort of your private deck. It is not uncommon to secretly witness the passage of an elusive leopard from this vantage point.
The comforts of the accommodation makes it difficult to depart, and has you longing for a return visit!

A Personal Highlight from Alistair Smith
I've been privileged enough to spend a few years of my life working as a guide in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and became accustomed to being surrounded by luxury. But, nothing could have prepared me for the Dulini experience.
My wife and I had booked a 6 night honeymoon experience, ending off at Dulini River Lodge, and how grateful we were to have saved the best for last!
Having experienced incredible wildlife viewing at the lodge before Dulini, we weren't all that focused on the game viewing, other than being shown an area of the Sabi Sands and a section of the Sand River I was entirely unfamiliar with. The game drives were enjoyable, and the sightings we had were indeed a bonus, but the true beauty of our stay was the in-camp experience. The main lodge, the food and wine, and of course the suite.
But, a particular highlight that stands out above all else, was being surprised by a territorial male leopard as he nonchalantly made his way through the camp, scent marking his way along the main pathway, all while we were seated for lunch beneath the ancient sausage tree overlooking the river. The staff weren't joking about having wildlife frequent the area surrounding the camp.
All in all, an unforgettable experience, and the perfect way to have celebrated our marriage!
Dulini River Lodge in A Nutshell
- Who should go: Dulini River is ideally suited to couples looking for a romantic safari experience, an unforgettable family and friend getaway, or for the first time safari traveller.
- When to go: River Lodge is a great camp to visit at any time of the year. However, the dry winter months (May to September) are preferable, to avoid any unwanted rain interruptions.
- How to get there: Guests can fly into the Sabi Sands using Federal Air connecting directly from OR Tambo International Airport to the Ulusaba Private Airstrip (50 -60 minute flight) followed by a 20-30 minute game-drive to Camp. There is also a road transfer option which will take about 6 hours, and lastly, the option to self-drive.
- Suggested length of stay: I would recommend a minimum of three nights at Dulini River to experience it's magic. Anything less will have you wishing you'd had more time.
- Insider Tip: Ask your ranger to arrange for a sundowner at one of his/her favourite spots on the reserve. P.S. don't skip out on the iced coffee and tasty treats on offer at afternoon high tea.
