Mana Pools and South Luangwa Safari

The safari officially starts from Harare International Airport, Zimbabwe. A chartered flight will fly us into Mana Pools from Harare where we will be transferred to our camp, Zambezi Expeditions, only 30 minutes from the airstrip. You’ll arrive mid to late morning & enjoy lunch and an afternoon safari activity.

Full days of safari on the Mana Pools floodplain. Our camp is right on the banks of the Zambezi River in a prime game viewing location. All activities start from camp as we leave by game viewer in search of wildlife. Once something exciting's been spotted we will typically approach on foot to get closer & to photograph it, a unique feature of the Mana safari experience. There will be a siesta period in between morning & afternoon safari activities. The early evening will be spent around the campfire after which we'll enjoy a camp dinner together.

After our morning safari we’ll meet a chartered boat and transfer upstream along the Zambezi to Chirundu. It’s a scenic boat ride that’ll be much enjoyed. Once in Chirundu we’ll clear customs into Zambia and transfer by road, approximately 3 hours, to Lusaka, the capital. Enjoy a relaxed late afternoon followed by dinner and a discussion on what’s to come.

After an early breakfast at the Protea Hotel we will be transferred by road back to Lusaka Airport for our chartered flight into Mfuwe. The flight duration to Mfuwe is about one hour. At Mfuwe we will met by one of the guides from Nsefu Camp and transferred by road to camp. The road transfer is about 2 hours in total and is a fascinating drive, passing through local villages, game management areas and eventually into the Nsefu Sector of South Luangwa National Park. We will arrive at Nsefu Camp in time to unpack, settle in and enjoy a delicious lunch before heading out on our first afternoon safari. Depending on what we see on safari we should return back to camp after dark where a delicious home cooked meal will be waiting for us.

Full days on safari at Nsefu Camp. An early morning start to enjoy a cup of coffee overlooking the Luangwa River before we head out on our morning safari. The private Nsefu sector is rich in wildlife and has a high density of leopards which will be one of our focusses during our time here. Depending on what we see, we should return to camp between 10 & 11am. The time during the day can be used to either sit back and relax and enjoy the stunning view of the Luangwa River, or work through Lightroom & questions with your Wild Eye guide. We will head out again around 15:30 to follow up from the morning’s sightings in search of some more photographic opportunities. We should return back to camp in time for dinner under the African skies.

Head out for a safari early in the morning, after which we’ll proceed to Mfuwe Airport. Fly to Lusaka from Mfuwe and upon arrival in Lusaka the safari will end.
