The Best of Mana Pools

The tour will start in Harare, Zimbabwe. From Harare we will board a chartered flight Into Mana Pools (estimated flight time around 1 and a half hours). Our local guide will meet us at the airstrip in Mana Pools and we will transfer by road to our home for the next 3 nights, Kavinga Safaris. After settling in and enjoying a scrumptious lunch we will depart on our first activity in the afternoon and explore the beauty of Chitake Springs. We will return to camp shortly after sunset as per park rules and enjoy a drink & dinner back at camp, keeping an eye out over the water below for predators coming in for an evening drink.

Full days on safari on in Chitake Springs. These days will combine walking experiences & some game drives by 4x4 vehicle. The area suits both perfectly & we'll be in the company of a qualified pro Zimbabwe guide, equipped with intimate knowledge of the surrounding area. It's the late dry season and we expect plenty activity around the remaining water. Lions should be around for the most part & there are a couple of semi-habituated leopards that we'll try to locate. Anything can go down in the wilderness that is Chitake. Animals travel long & far in order to drinks from the water surrounding the camp and predators such as lion, leopard, hyena & wild dog are never far off. There's also a great eye-level photo hide just below camp & this will be well used during our stay. Beautiful photo opportunities could come into play here both during daytime and also at night.

After a morning safari acitivity as well as breakfast we'll depart camp & leave for the Mana Pools floodplain. Our guide from Zambezi Expeditions will meet us along
the way as we bid farewell to Kavinga Safaris. The drive is approximately 2 hours. After arriving we’ll enjoy lunch & camp orientation and then head out for an exciting afternoon safari on the exciting Mana Pools floodplain.

All activities will start from camp on the banks of the Zambezi River. There will be two safari activities daily. We'll always depart camp by road as we go in search of wildlife. Favourite animals to look out for would be large elephant bulls, some of whom can stand on their hind legs, lion prides, wild dogs, large herds of buffalo and more. At times the morning and afternoon light is so striking that we'll spend time photographing animals such as impala, waterbuck or kudu below the magnificent winter thorn canopy.

We return to camp by around 10am in the mornings. There'll be time for brunch in camp. Between safari activities you can rest up, enjoy the view from camp, be entertained by all the animals that pass through camp itself (elephants, baboons, eland and more), or meet with your wild eye guide and work through images.

After a morning breakfast followed by a full morning safari activity we'll depart for Kanga Camp. The drive will take you through the mixed woodland regions of Mana arriving in camp just over an hour or so later. The camp's waterhole is always active so upon arrival you'll enjoy an icy drink & watch the happenings at the waterhole. You could go on an afternoon game drive following lunch or simply enjoy the action at the waterhole for the rest of the afternoon.

Enjoy a total of 2 nights at Kanga Camp. The best way to experience Kanga Camp & its waterhole is to wait for wildlife to come for a drink. It's one of the last remaining waterholes in the region and it's very active during September & October each year. The camp is best experienced from the comfortable lodge deck, drink in hand and camera by your side. It's not uncommon for predators to arrive for a drink during the early evening or during dinner. By spending the bulk of your time on the deck of Kanga Pan you ensure that you don't miss out on any action. As the day wears on and dusk arrives there's a good chance of seeing predators like lion, wild dogs, hyena and even leopard come for a drink. There will also be an opportunity for exciting morning walks to explore the region by foot.

Enjoy breakfast and a morning safari activity at Kanga Camp. From here we'll board a flight and travel back to Harare, signaling the end of your safari experience.
