Day 1
Arrival in Entebbe and transfer to Boma Hotel
On arrival in Entebbe and after collecting your luggage, you will be met by the team on the ground who will transfer you to the Boma Hotel for your 1-night stay. This will allow you to prepare for the incredible trip.
Entebbe is a small, quiet town located on the shores of Lake Victoria and is easy to explore on foot, boda bodas (local motorbike) or taxis. Soak up the local markets filled with clothes and crafts, shop for souvenirs in curio shops, or explore the Botanical Gardens on Lake Victoria. Enjoy the wide variety of restaurants serving many different cuisines as well as several bars and clubs where you can sample the local beer, catch a game of football and chat with the local Ugandans, known for their open, friendly nature.
Day 2
Early morning transfer to Entebbe airport for charter flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Breakfast will either be enjoyed early, or a packed breakfast will be taken along for your transfer to the airport, where you will board your charter flight to Bwindi’s Impenetrable Forest. On arrival at Kihihi airstrip, the team will meet you and transfer you to Buhoma Lodge where you will be staying for the next 3-nights.
Bwindi National Park, located in south western Uganda on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, is considered the most diverse forest in Uganda. During your stay will enjoy two Gorilla trekking trips with the local knowledgeable guides.
Day 3-4
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
The mist-shrouded Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to an estimated 50 percent of all mountain gorillas. There are around 11 habituated families, each of which is usually led by a giant silverback. As part of impressive conservation efforts, permits for gorilla watching are tightly regulated – only 90 or so are issued every day. Tracking means trekking, for up to six hours in some cases, through often slippery terrain both uphill and downhill. But it is worth every second to spend an hour watching man’s closest cousins as they play, forage, and interact right in front of your eyes.
Day 5
Transfer from Bwindi to Airstrip for charter flight to Kasese airstrip for Kibale National Park
In the morning you greet Buhoma Lodge and depart from Kihihi airstrip to Kasese airstrip which connects you to Kibale National Park. Kibale is an enchanting ancient forest and supports an incredible range of flora and fauna. Rich in wildlife, it is most noted for its primate population including red-tailed monkey, diademed monkey, olive baboon, chimpanzee, black and white colobus. Your night stay will be spent at Primate Lodge which will allow for one chimpanzee trek in the forest.
Day 6
Chimp Trekking in Kibale
Today is sure to be exhilarating! Chimps share around 98 percent of their DNA with humans, so if connecting with your extended family on holiday appeals, then try chimpanzee tracking in Uganda. The most popular place to do so is Kibale National Park. Chimpanzee trekking can be exciting as they are often very active, moving through the forest canopies, so you may find yourself following a family through dense jungles! Of course, sightings cannot be guaranteed as they are wild animals, but the chances of seeing them are very good. Once amongst the Chimpanzees, spend approximately an hour observing and following them. The Afternoon will be spent at leisure.
Day 7
Departure from Kibale National Park and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning, after breakfast you will depart from Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a drive of approximately 3-4 hours. This park set in the Great Rift Valley is home to a wide variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo, Uganda kob, baboon, and many species of birds. The northern Mweya area, which traverses the equator and is dominated by the scenery of crater lakes, is often occupied by large flocks of flamingos. A boat trip from Mweya along the Kazinga Channel, which joins Lakes Edward and George, provides one of the most memorable experiences offered by the park. Continue onto the southern sector of the park, a 2–3-hour drive. The next two nights will be enjoyed at Ishasha Wilderness Camp. This exclusive 10 tented camp offers the only luxury accommodation in the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 8
Full Day Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Day at leisure to enjoy game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Ishasha area is famed for its unusual tree climbing lions. Watch the African sun set as you enjoy bush sundowers. The outdoor fireplace is the perfect place for guests to relax with sundowners and wind down after an exciting day’s game viewing. Overnight at Ishasha Wilderness Camp including all meals and local drinks.
Day 9
Departure from Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive to Entebbe International Airport
The most memorable trip in Uganda will conclude after breakfast, where you will check out, greet the staff for your transfer back to Entebbe. During your drive you will take in the scenery from Uganda.
