The Start Of The 2021 Wild Eye Mara Season

The wait is over!!! Today I am privileged to let you all know that the 2021 Wild Eye Mara Season is a go! In the same breath, what a phenomenal start it was.

The special moments our guests were blessed with; both in the field and in the camp, were numerous and pretty much endless, during my two weeks up in Masai Mara.

Having missed out on a season in 2020, the following words made so much sense to me yet again;

"By combining the exclusivity of the Wild Eye Mara Camp and the passion, knowledge and experience of our team, we have taken our Masai Mara Experience weeks to a whole new level, providing our guests with what we firmly believe to be one of the very best photo safaris on offer in the Masai Mara."

I back those words 100%, not because I am an employee of Wild Eye but because every single one of those words are true. The visit to the Masai Mara will always be very special. This is because that is just part and parcel of what the Masai Mara is all about but the folk you will see below are the main reason why our product stands out miles ahead of the rest.

One thing I mentioned to both groups of guests that recently joined me at the start of the 2021 Wild Eye Mara season is;

"Take away the many incredible wildlife moments the Masai Mara has to offer. Remove all the comforts in our camp and I can assure you that you will still be having the best time due to our great team here in camp."

Our team in East Africa are honestly one in a million. Their energy levels and eagerness is something my words will never accurately describe. The best way to understand that is to come join us in camp one day in the future. Speaking of our home away from home; Enkishui Camp, please feel free to see the link below which will give you a better idea on what this very special place is all about.

Now the Mara Triangle is home to an incredible array of wildlife, even outside of the Great Migration season. The images you will see below showcase the wonderful diversity the Masai Mara has to offer. This on a wildlife, scenery and weather conditions front.

The Masai Mara is a photographer’s dream as the washed out brown tones so often seen during the migration season are replaced by a vibrant array of colour. Without the permanent presence of the migratory herds, predators tend to be more active, making for excellent game viewing and photographic opportunities.

Guest Testimonials

"How does one put into words the feeling of the refuelling of one’s soul.

I am so totally in love with the experience I had, I felt like I had arrived home. “Soul food”  is what I called it. A place where everyone knows your name, and every one treats you like royalty, and enjoys your company.

We had many laughs and many surprises, and I was blown away by all of them. I cant pin point any one experience as being the best, they were all breath taking.

Now not being a photographer myself, I went with no expectations, I hired a camera and I am now officially taking it up as a hobby. Thank you Michael for being so patient with me, thank you for the energy and excitement  you and Sammy fed us in the vehicle, I loved it !!  From the very  beginning with Gerry on Tik tok, to Johan and Judy on the organizational side, to being met by the happiest 2 people in Nairobi Soila and Billy, Dickson, Monica and the entire family at the Mara camp, to the very end of my journey, the 5 star treatment I received form everyone, was out of this world.

Thank you to every single person who now knows me at wild eye. I miss you all very much, every single person !

To any one wondering if they should go Book it now !!!! ……Just do it, Save up and GO !!! As Judy said, “you arrive as a guest and leave as family”. Thank you all for everything, what an amazing bucket list adventure."

"The Wild Eye camp is just perfectly situated and quite a few of the breathtaking scenes we enjoyed happened just a few kilometres from there. I cannot fault the camp - everything we needed was catered for, the staff are so thoughtful and generous and I really did feel that I was part of their family. Authentic and genuine in everything. The Maasai team looking after us were just superb, so warm and friendly and interesting to talk to.

I loved that there was a campfire to welcome us for morning coffee and then drinks on return in the evenings and after dinner. Please do not ever get wifi in the guest tents(!) - I absolutely loved that I lay in my very comfortable bed listening to the sounds of the rain falling on my roof with the sounds of wildlife near and far. No screens, no distractions. I felt disconnected from the world but completely connected to all that matters.

The vegan food prepared was absolutely delicious - so thoughtful and creative. The chefs could certainly teach big city restaurants a thing or two.

It goes without saying that the wildlife sightings were spectacular but the highlight of the trip wasn't this - it was the Wild Eye family. Not just the wonderful Maasai looking after us in camp but the staff in the offices in Nairobi and Johannesburg. I was looked after from my first contact to landing back home. It is much appreciated.

I could go on but finally, thanks a million to Mike who was a very patient and knowledgeable photography guide who always put our photographic needs and wishes first. Mike was a lot of fun to spend the week with and I appreciate all the advice and help.

I will definitely return!

Thanks a million!"

"I feel like I can’t really do the experience justice in words. There is something so meaningful to the heart when you visit places like the Mara and I’d trust no one else other than Wild Eye with my experience. The Mara is an amazing place but you guys really give people the opportunity to truly appreciate.

On top of that, I’d have to say going to the Mara before the migration starts was really wonderful- better than I could have anticipated. I loved getting to spend time with so many animals and seeing so many habitats and ecosystems within the Mara."
