Webinar Wednesday – Week #2

At Wild Eye our goal is to change the way you see the world and now we still super excited about our new online Webinar Wednesdays which we kicked off on the 29th of April.

Each week, one of our professional photographic guides will be presenting a 60 or 90 minute themed webinar followed by a 30 minute Q&A session. These will follow the same format as the webinars you may have already attended but, we will be taking this to the next level

Webinar Wednesday features will be limited to a maximum of 50 attendees and will be charged at a cost of $15 to $20 per event.  We will still be adding the value that we always have, free of charge, through our regular webinars which will be scheduled throughout the week.

Here are the next in our series of Webinar Wednesday events that you can look forward to.

Seeing in Monochrome

Host:  Marlon du Toit
Date: Wednesday 6 May 2020
Time: 19:00 CAT
Max Guests: 50

Strong black and white images are created both in the field before triggering the shutter and through smart post-processing. Marlon will discuss and showcase important aspects of black and white photography.

  • Seeing it in the field – Learn to identify a strong black and white image.
  • A strong story – Transfer that compelling scene you witnessed to the viewer.
  • A bold subject – Showcase the key characteristics of an animal correctly.
  • Contrast and detail – Learn to emphasise the scene through post-processing.
  • Process all in Adobe Lightroom – Learn how to achieve incredible results within Lightroom only.

Marlon will discuss these critical points with you & show that the best black and white images are the ones that have been purposefully shot for the task and processed with intent.

This webinar includes the following:

  • A keynote presentation - considerations for powerful black and white imagery.
  • A practical Lightroom editing session.
  • Please note – files will not be sent to you for this session.

Marlon has found great success with his black and white photography and drawn inspiration from great photographers such as David Yarrow and Nick Brandt – both of whom he now calls friends. This exciting webinar will leave you with a fresh, new, relevant approach to your black and white photography.

Sunrise, Sunsets and Silhouettes

Host:  Andrew Beck
Date: Wednesday 13 May 2020
Time: 20:00 CAT
Max Guests: 50

It’s the most beautiful time of the day.

The sky is transformed into an amazing palette of deep reds, oranges and yellows. But you just can’t get it right in camera.

Do you include or exclude the sun? Do you over or underexpose the scene? Should you include more or less of the sky? Where do you even begin to process the image in Lightroom?

In this 60 minute Webinar, Andrew Beck will look at how to go about photographing and processing (in Adobe Lightroom) sunrises, sunsets and silhouettes. Andrew will cover the technical, creative and compositional considerations that one needs to keep in mind when looking to capture these iconic and captivating moments whether you’re out on safari or simply photographing in your local neighbourhood.

Leading up to the Webinar you will receive 2 RAW files with EXIF data to practice and apply your new found skills.

Whether you are new to photography or you're looking for some new techniques to use to take your photography to the next level, make sure you do not miss this webinar.

The will be time for Q&A as well during which Andrew will answer your questions on the photographing and processing of sunrises, sunsets and silhouettes.
