Best Of Kenya
Mike was my guide on my first Kenyan – and Wild Eye – adventure for the Big Cats & Tuskers trip. I can’t say enough about how wonderful Mike was during our time on safari – and before! I encountered many delays coming into the Kenya. While delayed in airports in Europe, Mike – and the Wild Eye team in Johannesburg – stayed in constant contact with me to stay updated on my arrival time and to adjust on-the-ground arrangements. When I finally made it to Kenya, I just missed the flight from Nairobi to Amboseli. I connected with Mike by phone upon landing in Nairobi and he was so kind, gracious, and understanding of my late arrival.

Best of Mana Pools
Our Wild Eye Guide Johan Van Zyl was fantastic. He advised us about our camera settings to get the maximum from our photos while at the same time not encroaching on our personal creativity. We had time during the day when Johan helped us process our photos with Lightroom.

“I LOVE Johan!!! He’s a down to earth guy which I really like, no airs and graces and will do anything to help, always cheerful, and always professional!”

Trip Report: Jaguars of the Pantanal 2024
Our Jaguars of the Pantanal tour in 2024 offered some of the best viewing you could possibly ask for in the Pantanal. During the seven full days in the northern Pantanal, we had a total of 52 jaguar sightings! Apart from the incredible jaguar viewing that we had during the week, our guests were also [...]

Trip report: Khamab Kalahari Safari 2024
I have just returned from Khamab Kalahari Reserve and my word, this is a truly special destination. Our time at this Reserve was a perfect reminder of how patience in the bush and on safari always pays off. We had some amazing sightings during our 7-day safari. Amongst all of them, the highlight was having [...]

Northern Serengeti Migration Safari Gallery
The Northern Serengeti, especially around Kogatende, is a gem for wildlife lovers. With its mix of rolling grasslands, scattered woodlands, and the winding Mara River, this area near the Kenyan border (literally a stone throw away from the Wild Eye Mara Camp) offers a much quieter, more personal safari experience compared to the busier southern [...]

10 Facts: Chimpanzee
Allow me to take you on a fascinating journey into the world of chimpanzees! These incredible creatures, our closest living relatives in the animal kingdom, share an astonishing array of traits and behaviours with humans. Pretty crazy to think that we share about 98% of their DNA, but how only 2% is so hairy is [...]

Trip Report: Primates of Uganda
The Primates of Uganda safari remains one of the most incredible experiences in my opinion and having just returned from hosting this experience, it has once again confirmed that statement for me. One of the reasons this experience stands out so much is not only the fact that you get to spend time with chimpanzees [...]

My First Experience in the Masai Mara
My first experience in the Masai Mara was something indescribably thrilling. I listened to all the stories everyone in the office had about their first time in the Mara camp, from hippos grazing right next to their tents, to enjoying the bucket shower so much that they accidentally ran out of water. It was now [...]
