Best Of Kenya
Mike was my guide on my first Kenyan – and Wild Eye – adventure for the Big Cats & Tuskers trip. I can’t say enough about how wonderful Mike was during our time on safari – and before! I encountered many delays coming into the Kenya. While delayed in airports in Europe, Mike – and the Wild Eye team in Johannesburg – stayed in constant contact with me to stay updated on my arrival time and to adjust on-the-ground arrangements. When I finally made it to Kenya, I just missed the flight from Nairobi to Amboseli. I connected with Mike by phone upon landing in Nairobi and he was so kind, gracious, and understanding of my late arrival.
Best of Mana Pools
Our Wild Eye Guide Johan Van Zyl was fantastic. He advised us about our camera settings to get the maximum from our photos while at the same time not encroaching on our personal creativity. We had time during the day when Johan helped us process our photos with Lightroom.

Best of Serengeti
“I LOVE Johan!!! He’s a down to earth guy which I really like, no airs and graces and will do anything to help, always cheerful, and always professional!”

The Wild Eye Mara Camp

The Amboseli National Park
The Amboseli National Park is one of my favorite reserves in Africa. In my opinion, it’s home to the most iconic African scene: If you do not know what mountain this is, I’ll inform you in just a bit. But apart from that perfect setting, the parks diversity in all aspects are just incredible and […]
As a beginner where do you start as a photographer?
Starting photography can be a very daunting task, I can tell you this from first hand experience. I have been taking photographs for a number of years now and what I love about photography is that there is always something new to learn, not only about the constant new technology coming out, but also about […]
Become A Great Photographer In Less Than A Year
Join Michael Laubscher and Ryan Quirk for exciting webinar online. Ryan was a guest who had joined a digital photography course that Michael had hosted in the Wild Eye office roughly a year and a half ago. Since then, Ryan has grown incredibly as a photographer. His creative eye has taken him down various roads but what […]
Incredible India – A country filled with culture and diversity
One of the oldest civilizations in the world, India is a mosaic of multicultural experiences. With a rich heritage and myriad attractions, the country is among the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It covers an area of 3287263 sq. km, extending from the snow-covered Himalayan heights to the tropical rain forests of the […]
There is a troublesome dilemma that sometimes exists in our wildlife photography experiences. It is the line, quite literally, between having all that we want in focus and inviting too much distracting details into or background. Usually there is more than one subject in question and usually they are quite close to each other, one […]
Lioness Vs Serval
I have just returned from one truly special week in Madikwe Game Reserve. It was the first safari I have hosted this year, which is crazy considering we are in November! This is obviously due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but I have to say it was such an incredible feeling to be out in the […]
Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve
Deep in the African bushveld, within South Africa’s famous Sabi Sand Reserve, ‘something enchanting lies in wait’ – the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. Both the Sabi Sand and Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserves are very dear to me. I say this because not only is this beautiful area home to one of the richest game populations […]
The Ultimate Skill
Probably, it could be said, that patience is the most important attribute a photographer must have to be the best they can at what they do. Truly, it cant be stressed enough how important it is to let a scene develop when necessary. Whether it a landscape and you need the sun to burst through […]
Serval – One of Africa’s most secretive creatures
Not many people coming to Africa know of, or have even heard of Servals. These small cats which almost represent the look of a Cheetah have long legs, a small head, large ears and a beautifully spotted and barred coat. Servals have quite a wide distribution in Africa – south of the Sahara, with one […]
