The Mana Pools & Kanga Camp Photo Safari combines two very different sides of this remarkable region. On the floodplains, you’ll photograph wildlife along the Zambezi River under the shade of winterthorn trees, while inland at Kanga Camp, activity centres around the last remaining water during the dry season. Elephants are occasionally seen standing on their hind legs to feed, a behaviour unique to this area and a highlight for any photographer. This safari offers an unhurried look at life in Mana Pools — from the river’s edge to its remote interior.

WHERE YOU'LL BE STAYING
YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1
After arriving in Harare, a scheduled flight takes us into Mana Pools — about an hour and a half away. On arrival, we’ll meet our guide and transfer to Zambezi Expeditions Camp. There’s time to settle in before heading out on our first afternoon drive, returning after sunset to enjoy dinner and a relaxed evening around the fire.DAY 2
Mornings begin with coffee around the fire on the Zambezi’s banks before heading out on a game drive. Animal movements guide the day, whether tracking elephant bulls in the golden light of the Albida forest or spending time with African wild dogs if they’re nearby. We travel in an open safari vehicle, approaching subjects on foot when conditions allow. Between drives there’s time to refine your Lightroom skills with your Wild Eye host or simply enjoy the view from camp. Afternoon activities follow the morning’s discoveries, keeping the schedule flexible.DAY 6-7
After five nights on the floodplain at Zambezi Expeditions, we transfer inland to Kanga Camp. Kanga Pan is the only water source during the dry season, drawing a wide variety of wildlife. The area features diverse habitats, from Mopane woodland to riverine forest. Most of the time is spent on “armchair” safaris from the camp’s viewing couches or the lower-level hide, offering close-up views of the wildlife around the pan.Day 8
On day nine, we enjoy a final morning activity before breakfast, then transfer to the airstrip for our scheduled flight back to Harare. Arrival in Harare marks the conclusion of the safari.
