THE PERFECT FAMILY DESTINATION
South Africa is arguably one of the most diverse countries in Africa. I mean in what other country could you get forests, deserts, beautiful coastlines, wildlife rich savanna's and spectacular mountain ranges all in one country! what might even be more diverse than the biomes of South Africa would be its people, with 11 different official languages you can only imagine how culture rich this country is.Â
Another reason why South Africa might just be the perfect family destination is because of how well it is connected logistically. With only a 2 hour flight you can get your family from Cape Town right in the heart of the Kruger National Park.Â

Madikwe Safari Lodge
Madikwe Game Reserve
The first fact about Madikwe that would put parents' hearts at ease is the fact that Madikwe is in a Malaria-free area. Madikwe is also home to the Big Five and also has a great variety of wildlife and birds.
Madikwe Safari Lodge offers family friendly suites, as well as child educational activities such as learning about different tracks, or even specialised children's game drives. If parents want a break, the lodge also offers babysitting services to entertain the children while the parents are on a relaxing game drive.

MOUNTAIN LODGE
Phinda Private Game Reserve
Phinda Private Game Reserve, in the Northern parts of the province KwaZulu-Natal is an area of immense biodiversity. With just a 30 minute drive in any direction you will find yourself in a completely different landscape, from thick bushveld to the very rare and endangered Sand Forest to breathtaking mountain ranges.Â
Phinda also offers incredible game viewing especially of cheetah. Off-roading is also permitted on Phinda meaning your family would get nice and close to the high profile animals and this is always entertaining for children.Â
Mountain Lodge in the south of Phinda is perfect for families as they offer a Wildchild program focussed on educating children about the fauna and flora of the region. They also have a dedicated kiddies room where parents can leave their children with a minder while they go on safari.Â

MALA MALA MAIN CAMP
Sabi Sands
Mala Mala in the Sabi Sands is well known to have some of the best game viewing on the planet. This is due to its location, on the banks of the Sand River and having a massive traversing within the Sabi Sands. This is a great destination especially if you and your family are interested in seeing the Big Five especially with a focus on the big cats like lions and leopards.Â
Mala Mala Main Camp offer family friendly accommodation in classic safari-style cottages. The rooms overlook the river and there is a pool and library for the whole family to enjoy.Â

MARATABA Safari lodge
Waterberg region
Marataba is probably one of the lesser known areas in South Africa for a safari, which really makes this a bit of a hidden gem. The Waterberg region is incredibly scenic and has some unique animal species that can be seen more regularly than in other places, animals like brown hyena and aardvark.Â
Marataba also goes out of their way to entertain children. They have the Mack and Madi Kid's Adventure Safari Club which offers a variety of activities like bush orientation, animal tracking and star gazing. They also have an adventure play area where children can enjoy an eco-garden play area with a jungle gym, paddling pod and even archery and crafts.Â

ECca LODGE
KWANDWE PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
Kwandwe is similar to Marataba in the way that it is located in a lesser know safari area. This doesn't mean the game viewing here is not good, in actual fact the game viewing is amazing, especially for lions and cheetah.Â
Kwandwe also offers the opportunity for the family to collectively get involved in conservation by participating in for example rhino de-horning.Â
Further more Ecca-lodge is a great option as you as a family get allocated a private vehicle and the lodge has first aid trained child-minders available at no extra cost. They also offer a "Bugs and Bones" nature walk where a qualified guide will take the children on a short and safe walk to appreciate the smaller creatures.Â
