The Amboseli and Laikipia Photo safari is an exciting experience focusing on two of Africa’s most iconic individuals, Giza the black leopard and Craig, one of Africa’s largest remaining tuskers.  Explore the diversity of both destinations, from rocky outcrops and riverine thickets in Laikipia, to one of the most impressive views in Africa namely Mount Kilimanjaro.  The possibility of seeing these incredibly rare animals should be on top of every wildlife photographer’s list.

YOUR ITINERARY

  • DAY 1

    Upon arrival and exiting the terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by a Wild Eye representative and assisted with your transfer to the Four Points Hurlingham Hotel for the evening.
  • DAY 2

    Transfer to Nairobi Wilson Airport for your scheduled morning flight to Nanyuki, followed by a road transfer to Laikipia Wilderness.
  • DAY 2 - 9

    Spending seven nights in Laikipia in search of the elusive black leopard is an adventure like no other. Upon arrival, you’ll settle into Laikipia Wilderness Camp, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife. Your first day is spent familiarizing yourself with the terrain, meeting expert guides, and setting up tracking equipment. As the sun sets, anticipation builds for the days ahead. Each morning begins early with game drives, scanning the landscape for signs of the black leopard—paw prints, scratch marks, and camera trap footage offer vital clues. Afternoons are dedicated to exploring the region’s diverse ecosystem, where you may encounter Grevy’s zebras, wild dogs, and elephants, all while remaining alert for movement in the dense bush. As night falls, specialized night drives provide the best opportunity to spot the black leopard, using infrared technology and expert tracking skills to locate this rare and elusive feline.
  • DAY 9

    Enjoy a road transfer from Laikipia Wilderness to Nanyuki, where you will connect to a charter flight to Amboseli.
  • Day 9 - 12

    Morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli Nestled within the Elephant Garden Conservancy, the camp offers sweeping views of Mount Kilimanjaro and access to some of Amboseli’s most iconic elephant habitats. On your first day, you arrive and settle into camp, greeted by breathtaking scenery and the sounds of the African wilderness. Your expert guides introduce you to the tracking process, sharing insights into Craig’s movements and preferred grazing areas. As the sun sets, you embark on your first game drive, scanning the landscape for signs of the massive bull. The second day begins with an early morning drive—prime time for elephant sightings as herds move across the open plains. With the help of experienced trackers, you follow fresh footprints and observe elephant groups, hoping to glimpse Craig’s towering presence. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring Amboseli’s diverse ecosystem, where giraffes, zebras, and hippos can often be spotted. As dusk falls, another game drive takes you deeper into the conservancy, enhancing your chances of finding Craig in his natural habitat. On your final day, you head out at sunrise for one last opportunity to locate the iconic bull. Whether or not he appears, the experience leaves you with a deep appreciation for Amboseli’s elephants and the vital conservation efforts that protect them.
  • DAY 12

    Set out at sunrise for one final attempt to locate the iconic bull before your scheduled flight from Amboseli back to Nairobi. This marks the end of your itinerary.
