YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1
Upon arrival at JKIA you will be met by a Wild Eye representative and transferred to FourPoints Hurlingham hotel for your overnight stay prior to the start of the safari.DAY 2
A short scheduled flight from Nairobi to Mara Olare conservancy is the perfect way to see some of the wide open spaces in Kenya from the air.DAY 3-6
After a freshly brewed cup of coffee is delivered to your room, we will depart before sunrise to maximize our opportunities of finding predators active in morning light. A lot of time and patience is required when photographing big cats, and with no time limits in sightings or on the duration of game drives, we will stack all the odds in our favor to ensure that we give ourselves the best possible opportunities of creating great images. Every morning we will enjoy a packed lunch overlooking the vast open plains of the Mara, once again ensuring that we spend the best parts of the day out in the field instead of being in camp. During the heat of the day when the light is harsh and the animals have moved towards the cooler shady areas, we will return to camp for a delicious lunch after which you can enjoy some free time or review some of your images in Lightroom with your Wild Eye guide. As the afternoon starts cooling down we will either follow up on some of the sightings that we enjoyed in the morning, or look for other interesting sightings. Shortly after sunset we will return to camp where we will be met by the wonderful hosts at Kicheche Bush Camp and enjoy dinner in this spectacular setting.Day 7
We will depart Kicheche Bush Camp early in the morning with our luggage, as we do a slow game drive towards Kicheche Valley camp, aiming to arrive in time for lunch, after which you can settle into your beautiful room, before departing on our afternoon safari. Kicheche valley camp is situated in acacia woodlands in a secluded valley and offers incredible game viewing all year round. The conservancy is particularly well known for great Cheetah sightings, which will be one of our focusses during our time here.Day 8-9
Another early start to the day as we look for predators in good light. As with the Mara north conservancy, there are no time limits in sightings or with the duration of game drives and we will take full advantage of both of these elements to increase our chances of great sightings. Every morning we will have a packed lunch with us to enjoy in the field instead of returning to camp to, yet again, take full advantage of being in this prime game viewing destination. Once the days warm up and animal activity subsides, we will return to camp to enjoy lunch and some free time to enjoy the spectacular setting we find ourselves in. This is also a great time to go through some of the images that you’ve created, and improve your Lightroom skills with the guidance of your professional guide. In the afternoon we will follow up on any sightings we had during the morning, or other updates that have been received by the guides. Once we have taken full advantage of the golden light in the afternoon we will make our way back to camp for a drink around the fire, followed by another scrumptious meal prepared by the wonderful chefs at valley camp.Day 10
We will have the opportunity for one last morning game drive as we depart camp early in the morning with our luggage and slowly make our way towards the airstrip. We will board our scheduled 1 hour flight over the Masai Mara and onward to Amboseli. Upon arrival in Amboseli we will be met by our local guide and take advantage of photographic opportunities that are around before making our way to Tortillis camp for lunch. Tortillis camp is situated in a private concession within Amboseli National park on a hill, offering breathtaking views from the main area. During lunch we will discuss our plans for the afternoon, which often depends on the elephant movements and the visibility of Mount Kilimanjaro.Day 11-12
As with our time in the Masai Mara, we begin early in the morning as we maximize the golden light. Our focus in the mornings will be to capture the herds of elephants making their way from the woodlands towards the marshes. We will scan the dry lake bed in search of these gentle giants, which gives us the unique opportunity of leaving the comfort of the vehicle to photograph approaching from low angles. We will enjoy a packed breakfast out in a designated area each morning before returning to camp, where you will enjoy your own personal time either to relax or to improve your Lightroom skills and review some images. The afternoon safaris will initially be spent around the marshes where the majority of the Elephants hang around to cool down and enjoy a drink, before making their way back to the woodland late in the evening. We will return to camp shortly after sunset and enjoy a drink around the fire before dinner to discuss the plans for the following day.Day 13
Depending on the time of the flight from Amboseli back to Nairobi, there might be one more opportunity to do a short game drive, taking our luggage with us before making our way to the airstrip. The one-hour scenic flight will take you over the Amboseli and the many villages seen along the way before coming into Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi you will be met by a Wild Eye representative and transferred to JKIA airport for your international flight back home. This marks the end of this incredible safari adventure.
