3 Stunning Safari Camps to experience
The Masai Mara. Even just saying the name conjures up golden grasslands, lions on the hunt, dramatic river crossings, and those vast, endless skies. There are few places on earth that match its raw, wild energy. If you’ve never been, the Masai Mara should absolutely be on your travel wishlist - and if you have been, well, you already know that one visit is never enough.

Whether you're dreaming of photographing a leopard lounging in a tree, watching elephants at sunrise, or simply immersing yourself in one of Africa's most iconic landscapes, the Masai Mara delivers. But one of the most important choices you’ll make when planning your safari? Where to stay.
We’ve rounded up three standout camps that cater to different styles of travel: from our immersive Wild Eye Enkishui Camp to the legendary Governors' Camp and the community-driven Kicheche Valley Camp in Naboisho Conservancy.
ENKISHUI WILD EYE MARA CAMP
Tucked deep within the Mara Triangle Conservancy, Enkishui Wild Eye Mara Camp offers a rare kind of safari experience - exclusive, personal, and rooted in nature. Hosting just 12 guests at a time (or 6 during our Masai Mara Experience Safari weeks), this seasonal camp is set right on the banks of the Mara River, a once-deadly crossing point for the migrating herds. Today, that same stretch of river symbolizes life, fittingly captured in the camp’s name - Enkishui, the Maasai word for “life".
Here, you’re not just close to the wildlife - you’re immersed in it. From lion prides on patrol to cheetahs stalking prey and the thundering drama of the Great Migration, the action often unfolds right on your doorstep. Safari drives are led by expert local guides and Wild Eye guides and naturalists, all excellent photographers should you wish to learn new photography tricks or have your safari documented, making this camp a dream for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.

The tents are private and beautifully appointed, with en-suite bathrooms, private outdoor showers and shaded verandas for those quiet midday moments. Meals are served in the completely open lounge and dinning tent with the sounds of the bush all around. As night falls, gather around the fire with local Maasai people, dine under the stars, and let the calls of lions and hyenas remind you just how wild and alive the Mara truly is.
Open from late June through November, Enkishui offers more than just a place to stay - it’s a soulful escape that brings you face-to-face with nature, guided by the warmth and spirit of the Maasai people.
Booking a safari at Enkishui, is a 6 night fully inclusive (all meals, drinks, activities & internal transportation) experience, with two options to choose from: The Great Migration Safari (high season) or the Masai Mara Experience (shoulder season).

- Affordability: Budget Concious
- Who it's for: Corporate groups, families, couples, solo travelers, photographers and anyone seeking a more personal, authentic safari experience
- Why stay here: A front-row seat to the Great Migration and incrdible big cat sightings, expert guiding and a camp that feels like home make this fully-inclusive and budget minded camp stand out.
KICHECHE VALLEY CAMP
Nestled in a quiet pocket of acacia woodlands, Kicheche Valley Camp blends refined luxury with true wilderness immersion. Found in the heart of the Naboisho Conservancy - a private area bordering the northern side of main Masai Mara National Park - this intimate camp features just six spacious tents, each thoughtfully designed with eco-friendly materials and perched on raised platforms for panoramic views.
The setting is serene and remote, offering incredible wildlife viewing with fewer safari vehicles than in the national park. Whether you're tracking lions through golden grass or enjoying a peaceful coffee on your veranda, the sense of space and seclusion here is unmatched.

The camp’s family suite makes it a great option for small groups or families traveling together. With two en-suite bedrooms connected by a cozy lounge (perfect for private dining), it comfortably sleeps up to five guests. The personal attention from the warm, welcoming hosts adds to the feeling that you’re not just a guest - you’re part of the family.
For those wanting to experience the wild without compromising on comfort or sustainability, Kicheche Valley delivers on every level. It’s a place where thoughtful luxury and conservation go hand in hand. Whats more is that the wildlife viewing is so good here, that we have opted to utilise this safari camp for one of our most popular scheduled photographic safaris - The Exclusive Amboseli and Mara Kicheche Photo Tour.

- Affordability: High-end
- Who it's for: Conservation-minded travelers, families, couples, and anyone looking for privacy and pristine wilderness
- Why stay here: An exclusive, eco-conscious escape in one of Kenya’s best-kept safari secrets - The Naboisho Conservancy
GOVERNORS' CAMP
Beneath a canopy of riverine forest along the winding Mara River, Governors’ Camp is one of the most iconic safari lodges in the Masai Mara - and for good reason. Its prime position inside the national reserve places you right at the centre of the action, with wildlife often wandering through camp and safari drives departing straight into the drama.
The entire camp is under canvas, giving you that authentic, classic safari vibe. Spacious tents overlook either the Mara River or the sweeping plains beyond, while no less than five dedicated family tents offer extra space and unforgettable views. Each tent features an en-suite bathroom, private veranda, and a front-row seat to the wild. The camp’s main areas include a bar tent with a river-facing deck and a dining tent with panoramic views across the plains.

After a day out in the bush, unwind with a massage in the on-site spa tent, where treatments are done using 100% natural products by The Wild Herb Company - perfect for adding a bit of relaxation to your adventure.
Governors’ Camp has also earned a GOLD eco-rating from Eco-Tourism Kenya, recognizing its commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism practices. It’s a camp that delivers both heritage and heart.

- Affordability: Mid-range to High-end
- Who it's for: First-time safari-goers, families, couples, and anyone chasing that classic, old-school safari feel
- Why stay here: An unbeatable location in the heart of the action, with all the comforts of a traditional canvas camp
