Reminiscing over an action packed safari to the Timbavati.
Mark and Hilary Robotham, my guests for this trip, pretty much gave me a rough idea of the experience they wanted to have over a Skype call. Having grown up in the area and knowing the Timbavati, there was only one place I had in mind, and that was a lodge that I grew up in. Kambaku safari lodge is a lodge that I grew up in, well not in but you know what I mean. The last time I visited the lodge was about 14 years ago and from what I could remember it was a true ''bush experience''.
The lodge itself is exactly as I remember it and it still has a very wild feel to it with a bit of luxury. On arrival, we were greeted by very friendly faces and instantly you feel at home. Being back at the lodge where I had so many wonderful childhood memories was truly special and on arrival, my mind was reminder of all that. Apart from that, I had a great feeling that this was going to be an incredible safari and a truly memorable one for my two guests.
Over the duration of 5 days, we had some incredible game viewing. To pick one highlight out of the week is simply impossible. There are just so many, so I thought I would share some of my favorite images for the safari with you and let the images speak for themselves. What I love about what I do is that I get to share my passion with others and create memories and new friends that will last a life time.
Having said that, here is my selection of images from a very special safari spend with incredible people.
The Timbavati will always hold a very special place in my heart. Having grown up in the area, I always get the sense of going home. The Reserve has a completely different feel to it and I am not sure if its because thats my first memories of the bush, but it has a very wild feel to it which I absolutely love.
I hope you enjoyed this blog and I hope you get to experience this magical reserve to some day.
Until next time,
Trevor
