The Treasures of the Lower Zambezi

Michael Laubscher and I recently returned from hosting the Treasures of the Lower Zambezi and what an incredible experience it was.

This 8-day tour which is split between two Classic Zambia camps namely Kutali and Chula camp, offered our guests both amazing photographic opportunities but also unforgettable experiences.

The Lower Zambezi National Park is without a doubt one of the hidden gems of Zambia, and Africa for that matter and offers a wide variety of activities and amazing wildlife viewing.

Both camps are situated down river from most of the other camps which means that there is a level of exclusivity as both camps are situated on islands with no other camps around.  Kutali camp is situated in breathtaking winter thorn forest, on the banks of the Zambezi River an is an absolute haven for wildlife.  Elephants walked through camp daily and we were extremely spoilt to have three leopards (yes you heard right) less than fifteen minutes from camp.  The Leopard viewing was out of this world, and the leap of three consisted of a mother and her sub adult cub and three month old cub.

Chula Camp which is situated further upstream from Kutali is also situated on an island and is only accessible by crossing the discovery channel on pontoon or canoe.

During our time at Chula camp we took full advantage of being close to the discovery channel, a channel which essentially acts as a back flow from the Zambezi River and completes a half circle to flow back into the Zambezi River again.  Doing a canoe trip is simply one of the most amazing and unique safari experiences and an absolute must when you are in the Lower Zambezi.

This year's Treasures of the Lower Zambezi was a great success and we are super excited to be adding more departures to this incredible piece of paradise.

If you would like an unforgettable experiences with breathtaking landscapes and amazing photographic opportunities, make sure you join us on this incredible safari!

Until next time,

Johan
